High-output days don't follow a script.

The hoodie that handles everything you throw at it.

High-output days don't follow a script. You start cold, warm up fast, the sun gets brutal, temps drop in shade, you're sweating but still need sun protection and odor control because you're wearing this for the next three days straight.

Most hoodies pick one job. The River Run Hoodie does all of it.

Built with DUAL SURFACE™ UL Precision Blended Wool at just 120gsm - one of the lightest full-cover merino hoodies you can buy. The inner surface actively wicks sweat away from your skin. The outer surface regulates temperature and shields you from UV (UPF 30+). You stay dry when you're working hard, protected when the sun is relentless, and warm when temps drop.

Why this becomes your go-to:

  • Ultra-lightweight full-coverage (120gsm) - you forget you're wearing it
  • Natural odor resistance - wear it for days without synthetic stink
  • Built-in UPF 30+ sun protection - covers your neck and arms
  • Button-up hood and thumbholes - dial in coverage as conditions change
  • Dries fast, breathes constantly, never restricts movement
  • Works solo or under your shell

This is your everyday workhorse for anything that makes you sweat. Trail running in full sun. Multi-day backcountry trips. Dawn alpine starts. One piece that handles spring snow, summer heat, fall shoulder season, and winter base layering.

Available in seven colors.

People buy these in multiples because when you find something that works year-round, you stop thinking about what to wear.

Customer video review of Women's River Run Hoodie

I love that an XS fits my torso AND the sleeves are long enough to not strangle my thumbs when using the thumb holes! Here I am wearing my shirt in a slot canyon. It’s my third Voormi Sun shirt, my second of the newer style. I prefer the darker colors on a cool day, and lighter colors on a warm day.

I tried backpacking for the first time in Patagonia and Osprey and Big Agnus. Luckily I met thru-hikers who told me to return my sh*t post-haste. So now, I’m sporting ZPacks, Appalatian Gear and Voormie. I’m as frugal a girl as you can find. I’d never have dreamed of dropping $129 on a garment. But my River Run hoodie is worth it. I’ve logged about 900 miles in it. JMT, Transcatalina, southern PCT. I can wear it for a week and guess what? It. Don’t. Stink!!! Plus, I’m thin-so I run cold. It has a button that is under my chin. So I can button it up to increase neck warmth. Pro tip? When you’re crossing a river, have the guys close their eyes, take off the Voormie and do a river-dunk! A wet hoodie’ll keep you cooler than a dry one 😎

This hoodie is all I hoped it would be and more. I purchased the size large for a bit of a roomier fit. The sleeves are a little long, but if I don’t want them covering my hands I just roll them up and they stay put. It’s all I want to wear now for hiking, backpacking, fishing, everything outside!

Excellent for temperature control with both the hot sun during a 10 mile hike to a cool breeze at the top of Humphrey’s peak.

I’m am unhappy with the quality of the fabric. After light use the fabric has little nicks everywhere in it. And on another note, the fabric isn’t soft it is a little rough against the skin. I like the fit and wear as grungy work shirt. A little pricey to be relegated as a work shirt. Also, the little button near the collar fell off first wearing.

I love how flattering the cut is, and it’s perfect for shielding from the sun while mountain biking, BUT I’ve worn it only three times and it’s already coming apart - threads are somehow pulling everywhere. Also, as a heads up: the new sage color isn’t the creamy tan it appears to be in the photos, it’s basically just cucumber.

Just tried out the river run hoodie on a spring ride in the desert. It worked perfectly to keep me cool, comfortable, and the sun off the top and side of my head. The best part was being able to pull the hood up over my helmet. It stayed in place with the adjustment of the buttons, and I was pleasantly surprised that I didn’t overheat as the day got warmer.

Thin and warm. I love the buttons and the cut of this hoodie. Great to wear on its own here in Texas or use as layer for a chilly hike or evening. I like that the Voormi logo is present but not as noticeable as previous merch I own (different t-shirts, jackets). Looking forward to wearing this a lot more.

I bought my Voormi river run hoody in 2021 for the Washington PCT and have worn it for about 1500 miles on trail since. It's the only shirt I wear backpacking, in a wide range of three season conditions. It magically keeps me cool with the hood up and unbuttoned, sending the breeze down my back, and if I start to get cold, buttoning the one button makes a big difference. I have had lots of encounters with brush and rocks, and took quite a good fall wearing it, and miraculously it didn't shred or even get a hole in it yet. I wish I had gotten another one in blue as a backup before they stopped making the original style in blue... but quite possibly the one I have is the only one I will ever need! Thank you Voormi for a lot of trail happiness :)

Great fabric, great customer service, very happy repeat customer. To say I don't leave home without a river run hoodie is an understatement. From summer in the Sierras to Fall in Banff to Winter in Montana to Spring in Acadia it has performed well through it all. It breaths well and protects from UV light in the summer (even 100F). It is a great base layer when the weather turns cold (-15F). The hood is perfect is the summer to go over a wide brimmed visor for sun protection and fits cozy under other hoods in the winter. Hood even pairs well with helmets (biking and climbing). The thumb holes are a huge upgrade on the newer version. The arms are long enough to make the thumb holes useful and the cuff keeps the sleeve up when not using the thumb hole. I have a positive ape index and bigger lats for my petite frame and this shirt accommodates yet doesn't look dumpy. Yes the fabric can get little "pulls" so if you are doing lots of bushwhacking be aware (no duh). But honestly I've worn mine so much longer than any shirt I've bought from smartwool, icebreaker, ibex, minus 33, ridge or wuru. My only complaint is that the sizing is slightly different between colors (maybe bc they are sewn in different locations). I am between an XS and S. I have been shipped XS that are too small and S that are way too big (color dependant). The melon runs larger than the clay and dirt. In picture shown I am wearing an older style XS and he is wearing a newer style L. I have a small clay and dirt that fit similar but will be returning the small melon for an XS. I am 5'3" 105lbs 32B 28" waist 34" hip.

Nice warm base layer. The XS fits well. Nice feature to have the button at the neck to give a little more warmth when the hood is up. I wish the sleeves were longer with a more robust thumb hole.

1/11/23 Wear kayaking and hiking. Keeps sun out; can wear brim hat n shades. The dark colors, while fine in Gulf Coast Texas winter fine, suspect dark color, iffy in hot, humid summers. Wear all time now.

Wear to keep sun off kayaking. Has button hood and thumb holes. Attached photo does not well show garmet, as i wear under waterproof jacket in winter, pulling hood over hat for more protection. Washed cold water; hung dry. Very light. Also wear hiking. Not sure dark color best for humid, hot day. Appreciate hood button And thumb hooks

I absolutly love your River Run top!!! I love the hood's generous in size - I think the hood is the best part of the shirt. I just wish you will make more colors. I have 4 of them. By far my favorite top on my closet. Thansk yo for making such lovely garment. Please do more colors!!

I spent so much time looking for a sun hoody that has good coverage (length of body, length of arms, big enough hood), is flowy enough for air movement, and is made from wool. Thank you for making this piece of kit in wool! This is now my go-to Search & Rescue summer shirt. I went down to 4 stars because the fabric isn't particularly soft, but hopefully some of the scratchiness will wear down after a few washes.

Started out with a medium but due to the athletic fit, moved to the large. The size large gave me the extra room to make it a bit more comfortable. I’ve been wearing it almost everyday and love it. Even on very hot days, it stays cool and with a slight breeze, even better.

I got a second River Run Hoodie in XS limestone (kind of an off-white with a lime green logo). I have an XS in Ash, and that one feels on the tighter side. I think next time I’ll get a small to try to replicate the slightly looser fit, like my limestone one. It is my favorite top for spring time trail running! I’ve been wearing it snowshoe running and out in the blazing hot sun! It’s so versatile, and it keeps my ginger skin from burning! I want to replace my entire upper-body wardrobe with one of every color, but I’m poor, so I’ll just slowly add more. I hope Voormi keeps adding colors! Maybe one in Juniper color (pretty please!)?

WOMEN'S RIVER RUN HOODIE

Customer photo review of WOMEN'S RIVER RUN HOODIE

I love this hoody!! I got it for better and more breathable sun protection during fastpacking and backpacking trips. I usually wear it underneath another shirt with low UPF. Combined they should give me adequate UV protection. During really hot weather, I wear it on its own. I find that it breathes very well. I wear it at night as a baselayer top in 3-season temperatures. Thanks to the merino wool, it doesn’t stink nearly as bad after several days of sweaty running/hiking compared to my polyester shirts. I went with the XS because I prefer the tighter fit. I like the elastic wrist cuffs and thumb loops. My favorite feature is definitely the hood; while there is no tightening mechanism, it is very roomy and fits loosely, thus allowing more air flow. It stays on my head while sleeping at night, as well. The material is very thin. My experience with past merino wool products have shown that it doesn’t hold up for long, so I will mostly wear this shirt underneath a more abrasion-resistant one. The only things I don’t like are the initial itchiness (it goes away or I stop noticing it after a few hours) and the limited stock. I would have preferred lighter colors that might not absorb as much heat from the sun, but they’re never available anywhere and the current stock is very limited, so I had to choose the darker shale (basically a dark grey). I wish it came in more colors! Maybe a soft purple/violet or teal! I hope more come in stock soon, because I’ll definitely fill my wardrobe with them. I feel that the price is worth the breathability and weight of the merino wool.

What an amazing price of gear, super breathable, hard-wearing (2200 miles of the CDT before they needed replacing) and comfy as hell. I won’t hike in anything else now. I prefer a loose fit so I ordered a slightly larger size than usual.

Customer photo review of WOMEN'S RIVER RUN HOODIE

I have been a whitewater guide for 10 years. Each summer I spend about 4 months straight outdoors, and due to sun exposure last year I finally had a small chunk of skin removed. Although the last couple years I have tried to be more serious about covering up while I'm working usually my shirts end up stinking something fierce, get shredded from heavy use, or just feel uncomfortable from daily wear. I've been on a holy grail sun shirt search for sometime now. I LOVE my Voormi. At this point, I've only used it every day for about 5 straight weeks but with 5ish more weeks to go in my season it looks great. I love that the gray pattern makes it so that even on morning 6 of a week-long trip it doesn't show any signs of dirty (despite probably being super dirty--especially around where my lifejacket constantly rubs on it). I love that I can wear it almost all day every day for a whole week and it doesn't pick up on my lack of showering at all. I love how cool it keeps me when it's wet, how warm it keeps me if there is a chill, and how my skin doesn't need gallons of sunscreen every day. In daily use the only signs of wear are small threads trying to unravel from where I've snagged it on sharp rocks or trees while bushwhacking in the backcountry. However, that being said-- the way that this fabric is sewn, where these tiny bits of thred are trying to run away would have caused full-blown holes in other wool clothing I've used in the past. I am very hard on my clothing and I'm super impressed with the durability of this piece. Cannot wait to add more to my collection.

My go-to baselayer for backpacking and mountaineering. It keeps the high-altitude sun at bay, sits comfortably under midlayers for alpine starts, and regulates beautifully when the temperature rises. I've been impressed by the fabric's durability against sharp granite: hardly a single snag after several days of climbing.

My boyfriend recommended that I get this top because he has 2 and love them. I bought it before our backpacking trip to Canyonlands and it saved me from a lot of sunburn! Plus it was light enough that I didn’t overheat while hiking in the desert heat. I got a medium based on comparing my measurements with the size chart. It fits great - long enough sleeves, not too tight, great length. I’m obsessed with this top and am excited to bring it on many more adventures!

The Hoody feels great and is the perfect layer for summer and late summer nature wanderings and river play. As a girl that lifts weights, the fit is fairly tight for my usual size, with a size larger too big. That said, it still looks good and I am stoked to have it as part of my technical wardrobe.

Women's River Run Hoodie

Great quality material, fits accurately to the sizing guide.

Women's River Run Hoodie

Actually, my girlfriend loves it! I believe this makes the fifth River Run hoodie I've bought- after wearing mine for just a few days, I decided that everyone close to me is going to have one as well! It's just the perfect piece of gear.

Women's River Run Hoodie

Gorgeous color, perfect summer weight, and best of all, not itchy at all (I am super sensitive to itchy fabric). I usually wear a medium but got a large to have a loose, oversized fit.

Women's River Run Hoodie

Really the best sunshirt ever. It feels really cooling if there is any kind of breeze, and protects from the sun without it. I have sensory issues and this fabric is light, without the suffocating feeling of full synthetic. I also trust it as a base layer for summer nights, unlike the slippery sponge of a full plastic sun hoodie. Major game changer. I like that this season’s fabric is lighter than the one I tried in 2024 (which was too heavy for me as a sun shirt). I sort of wish they’d go to tencel or bamboo to pair with the merino (instead of poly), but I get it.

Women's River Run Hoodie

I am in love with my new summer hoodie! Color, design, fabric - all awesome and true quality as Voormi is known for.

Women's River Run Hoodie

Love the Glacier blue color and the comfort of the material!

Women's River Run Hoodie

I love the river run hoodie. It’s light weight, soft, and very comfortable. It keeps you warm by itself and is great for layering.

Women's River Run Hoodie

I have other Voormi products that I love, but this one is not the best. Its completely see through, and I've worn it twice and it's already got a big snag in it. I'm disappointed as I had high hopes gor this piece. Two wears is unacceptable, especially for this price.

Women's River Run Hoodie

First Voormi purchase for myself and I love it! Can't wait to get more of their stuff.

Amazing work, guys!creating a shirt that is perfect for Bali hot weather, hiking mountains in heat and using it as a base layer for cooler weather. Thank you!
